The National Trust for Historic Preservation is hosting a "This Place Matters" photo contest in partnership with Fireman’s Fund Insurance. With such a fun project to get Boyertown recognized, Building A Better Boyertown (BBB) encouraged the Downtown Businesses to choose and take photos holding "THIS PLACE MATTERS" signs of their Downtown Boyertown destinations.
On Tuesday, September 15, 2009, BBB submitted 12 photos to the This Place Matters photo contest. The photos submitted, were in respect of: CD’s Place, The Boyertown Inn, The Historic State Theatre, Bause’s Super Drug Store, Clayote, Studio B, The Grill Shop (and the Royal Order of Raccoons),Congressman Gerlach’s check presentation, The No Place for Hate Mural, Miracles in Motion Dance Studio, The Boyertown Farmers Market, Twin Turrets Inn, Zimmers Pets, Michelle’s Hair Designs and Bear Fever. The photos and a narrative of each were submitted to the National Trust for Historic Preservation for consideration in their This Place Matters photo contest.

Heather Oxenford, Building A Better Boyertown's Main Street Manager says "This is truly an exciting time! The Boyertown community and the Downtown Businesses have joined together to create a terrific sense of place and have displayed incredible team work! BBB believes strongly in developing Boyertown, promoting local businesses and enhancing the small-town feel that makes Boyertown a “Special Kind of Place”. All of the participants in this community project once again have proven that Boyertown is “a place where our friends and families want to be”.

Ten photos will be selected by the Trust as finalists. The public will then vote online and determine the final three winners.
